A real good reason to party!
In 1963 the French Fluxus artist, Robert Filliou, declared January 17 to be the 1,000,000th birthday of art which for some decades now has been celebrated worldwide. As in the previous years, in 2009 artists all over the world will organise a networked birthday party for art. In many places the motto of this year’s celebrations will be „Safe and Sound“.
This weekend the „Art’s Birthday 2009 – 1,000,046 Years of Art“ is celebrated in Hainburg. The Austrian Kunstradio (art radio) is collaborating with Experimental Studio of Slovensky Rozhlas (http://artradio.sk), with IMA – Institute of Media Archaeology (http://www.ima.or.at) and with Tilos Radio Budapest (http://tilos.hu) for a two-day-Happy-Birthday-event, as usual online, on site and on air. The “Fête Permanente” will take place at the exhibition “Magical Soundmachines” at the Kulturfabrik Hainburg on the shore of the Danube, close to Vienna and even closer to Bratislava. “Magical Soundmachines” presents a range of unique historical sound generators, recorders and transmitters – and they are here to be played. http://ima.or.at/klangmaschinen
